In the Frame 2 - An Industry Event for Emerging Comics Creators

In the Frame 2 is our second free online event, designed specifically for emergent comics creators based in Scotland. We want to support you in building your knowledge of the sector and the skills and networks you need to connect your work with industry professionals and readerships. 

 

Timing: 10:00-12:15, lunch break, 12:40-16:30

Join us for our online event which aims to illuminate aspects of the comics and graphic novels industry that may not be easily accessible for emerging creators. The event is free and open to all, regardless of career stage. 

 

The event is produced by Creative Scotland and programmed by Alice Tarbuck (Literature Officer, Creative Scotland). The original concept was co-designed with industry specialists Hannah Berry, Nyla Ahmad, and Woodrow Phoenix and supported by the Society of Authors. 

 

We recognise that diaries are busy, so if you are keen to come along but can only attend part or parts of the event, please still register and join when you're able!

The event will offer, amongst other things:

• The Society of Authors, who will discuss the business side of writing, including areas such as agents and contracts. 
• A specialist session on crowdfunding by Paved with Gold, followed by short talk from Creative Scotland about funding and support opportunities for comics and graphic novels. 
• The opportunity to discover different routes into publishing, with experienced professionals from the comics industry Anna Morozova (2000 AD) and Sha Nazir (BHP Comics).

• Highly influential graphic novelist and illustrator Posy Simmonds as our key-note speaker, discussing her varied career in comics, chaired by Hannah Berry.
