ABOUT THE EVENT
Organized by The Shed, in cooperation with the Indigenous Peoples and Development Branch-Secretariat of the Permanente Forum on Indigenous Issues, DESA.
The Yanomami Struggle is an exhibition is dedicated to the friendship and collaboration between artist and activist Claudia Andujar and the Yanomami people. It features over 200 photographs by Claudia Andujar and over 80 drawings, paintings, and video works by Yanomami artists.
The Yanomami Struggle is curated by Thyago Nogueira, Head of Contemporary Photography at Instituto Moreira Salles with Valentina Tong under the guidance of Yanomami shaman and spokesperson Davi Kopenawa, and organized by IMS (Brazil), the Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain and The Shed in partnership with the Brazilian NGOs Hutukara Associação Yanomami and Instituto Socioambiental.
Given limited capacity, the event will be open on a first-come-first-served basis. Only those who have already registered and hold a grounds pass for this year’s session of the Permanent Forum will be able to attend the cultural event. Participants must show their pass upon arrival. Please note that the cultural event will be photographed and participants consent to have their photos taken during the event.
